What is sober living and why do I need it?
Sober living houses (also called halfway houses or recovery houses) refer to group residences for people recovering from addiction to drugs or alcohol. These residences provide safety and structure to build a foundation for recovery and offer a transitional period before returning to independent living. The communal nature of the home provides support from peers and accountability from other individuals working towards a new life free from addiction.
What sort of rules should I expect?
First and foremost, Bloom Recovery Residences has a zero tolerance policy for use of drugs or alcohol. Bloom is a 12 step focused house, so guidelines also include attending 12 step meetings and active participation in a 12 step fellowship. Other guidelines include curfew, chores, and frequent drug testing. Curfew is 11pm Sunday-Thursday and 12pm Friday and Saturday. Residents are expected to begin work or school within two weeks of entry and are allowed to have personal transportation. There are no restrictions, phases or a “blackout” periods when you first enter the house, but there are times when we will offer additional support for an individual.
How much does it cost and what is included?
Bloom Recovery Residences costs $200 a week. Included in this fee is a shared bedroom (2 residents per room), WIFI, cable television in both living rooms, utilities, all linens and towels, laundry products, toilet paper and cleaning supplies. Residents are responsible for food, transportation, and personal products- we provide the rest with no hidden fees. To admit into the house or to reserve a bed once your application has been accepted, the first two weeks of rent are due in full ($400).
How long can I stay?
We encourage our residents to stay at Bloom for a minimum of 6 months but there is no designated timeframe or commitment. It is believed that longer time in sober living establishing a foundation in recovery encourages sustained abstinence which is why we give the incentive of refunding the deposit only after a minimum of 6 months is met. Residents are free to reside at Bloom for as long or as short a time period as they wish, and we will aide residents in transitioning from Bloom back to independent living.
Do you allow residents on MAT?
Yes, we do accept residents who are on Medically Assisted Therapy under medical supervision.
Can I have visitors?
Visitation is allowed on Saturdays and Sundays. Visitation must take place in the furnished garage or outside to allow residents privacy in their home. No overnight guests are allowed.
